Old Town of Lijiang
The Old Town of Lijiang, a well-preserved old city, has retained a historic townscape of high quality and authenticity. In December 1997, the old town appeared on UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage List. It dates back more than 800 years and blends together the elements of ethnic minorities. It was once a confluence for trade and the political, cultural and educational center in the region. Many private China tour cover Yunnan in their itineraries. Kunming, Dali and Lijiang would be a must-have among them.
The capital of Yunnan, Kunming is known as the City of Perpetual Spring for its pleasant year-round spring climate and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in China. It has a history of more than 2,400 years with many must-see attractions, such as Dianchi Lake and the Village of Ethnic Culture. The most eye-catching architectures in the city is grouped together around Jinbi Square. Kunming also has a large ethnic minority population, giving the city a varied and exotic minority culture. Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden
Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is located in the beautiful Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, at the south end of Yunnan. The prefecture itself harbors surprising biological diversity and is noted for its mysterious tropical rainforests, wild animals and ethnic minority customs. Founded in 1959, the garden has more than 10,000 species of tropical plants and combines research, education and preservation of rare plant species. When China travel is mentioned, Yangtze River cruises would come to the mind of many people, while a visit to Yunnan do have something different to offer, breathtaking scenery, profound culture and friendly ethnic munities people.
