The Jade Buddha Temple is a good place to go whether you are a Buddhist or not, the peaceful and transcendent atmosphere adds a kind of richness to our busy modern Yangtze River cruises society.
When I arrived there, I was already tired because it is not that close to the underground station. Ticket was 20 for the sleeping Buddah and the temple. If you wanted to see the Jade Budda was another 10. I really didnt like Shangri-la adventure the principle. When I was there, there was some ceremonies and it was impossible to pray or have some resting moments. Really not worth...
Going through the temple was a lovely experience, I was there right in time for the daily morning prayers. The incense, the chanting and the pious worshipers was picturesque. The gold fish feed was kept clean but the fish seemed starved they were begging for food. The visitors are expected to buy the feed for US$7 to benefit the temple. There is also an entrance fee. There are two Burmese Buddha statues the Sitting Buddha and the Recumbent Buddha they are both carved with whole white jade. The sparkling and crystal-clear white jade gives the Buddhas the beauty of sanctity and make them more vivid. The third recumbent Buddha is from Singapore. The courtyard is also beautiful and it has clean facilities. I highly recommend business travel to China visiting this monument.
