Shikumen is a type of residential China tours architecture that came into being with the urbanization of Shanghai. Over the years, these buildings have served as the major accommodation for most Shanghai residents.

The door of a Shikumen building was made of thick black wood framed with slates of granite or red stone, hence the name “Shikumen”, or literally Stone Warehouse Gate. When I arrived there, I was already tired because it is not that close to the underground station. Ticket was 20 for the sleeping Buddah and the temple. If you wanted to see the Jade Budda was another 10. I really didnt like Shangri-la adventure the principle. When I was there, there was some ceremonies and it was impossible to pray or have some resting moments. Really not worth...

Going through the temple was a lovely experience, I was there right in time for the daily morning prayers. The incense, the chanting and the pious worshipers was picturesque. The gold fish feed was kept clean but the fish seemed starved they were begging for food. The visitors are expected to buy the feed for US$7 to benefit the temple. There is also an entrance fee. There are two Burmese Buddha statues the Sitting Buddha and the Recumbent Buddha they are both carved with whole white jade. The sparkling and crystal-clear white jade gives the Buddhas the beauty of sanctity and make them more vivid. The third recumbent Buddha is from Singapore. The courtyard is also beautiful and it has clean facilities. I highly recommend business travel to China visiting this monument.

Shikumen residences refer mainly to the China tours two-story, brick-and-wood houses that have sloping roofs and dormer windows. Their outer walls are usually built from red bricks, and they have traditional Chinese gateways at the end of their lanes. The clanging sounds of the metal knockers, as people enter and leave through the gates, often linger in the ancient lanes. My Shanghai Tours-Shanghai World Financial Center (one)

Opened in the middle of 2008, this China tours tapering, 101-story, 492m-high (1,614-ft.) glass tower, resembling a giant, old-fashioned bottle opener, is the tallest building in China, and the tallest in the world, vis-a-vis the height to which visitors can ascend -- which, in this case, is the stunning, all-glass 100th-floor observatory at a height of 474m (1,555 ft.). (The building, designed by American architect William Pedersen and developed by Minoru Mori and the Mori Group, which built the Roppongi Hills complex in Tokyo, is technically the third tallest in the world.) The rarefied air and views from up top are unparalleled, but can be stomach-churning for those prone to vertigo. On the 100th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Center Observatory, the top tier of a three-layer observatory is 1,555 feet up and still the world’s highest. Architecture geeks will love it for the fact that it spans the building’s most distinctive Shanghai tour package feature, the rectangular cutout that makes the whole building resemble a giant bottle opener.
